Multidimensional poverty measurement and analysis
In this presentation we provide an overview of research on multidimensional poverty measurement and analysis. We cover the dual cutoff counting approach, its direct antecedents and the global multidimensional poverty index (MPI). We also present selected research findings on (i) the recent revision of the global MPI, (ii) the interlinkage of deprivations and (iii) the potential impact of the pandemic on global multidimensional poverty. Moreover, we also explain selected elements of the production process of the global MPI, including the Stata package mpitb, which is a toolbox for multidimensional poverty indices.
